The back outlet floor mounted bowl is used where the waste line is above the floor. It is manufactured in two different styles for either tank or flushometer applications. Even though it is a back outlet bowl it does not require a carrier to support the bowl. The bowl mounts to the floor, but the waste line exits out the back of the bowl. There are bowls that mount to the floor and have a bottom outlet as well. The roughing on the back outlet bowl varies by manufacturer. They start at about 4” from the center of the pipe in the wall to the finished floor. The tank to bowl kit above is specifically designed for an American Standard toilet. This kit is used to fasten this particular American Standard tank to the matching bowl. The purpose of this kit is to prevent a leak between the tank and the bowl while flushing the toilet/water closet. This kit includes the close couple gasket and the bolts, nuts, flat washers and top bibb washers. Each manufacturer uses different types of tank to bowl kits. Some use 1, 2, or 3 bolt designs with different close couple gaskets. Using the wrong kit could lead to a leak or even a broken tank or bowl.
