Deep groove ball bearings have full shoulders on both sides of the raceways of the inner and outer rings. They can accept radial loads, thrust loads in either direction, or a combination of loads. The full shoulders and the cages used in deep groove bearings make them suitable for the addition of closures. Ceramic (silicon nitride) balls can be specified to increase bearing stiffness, reduce vibration levels and prolong bearing life.

Double row deep groove ball bearings feature higher load ratings than single row bearings, but are very sensitive to misalignments. This series have the latest design (suffixed 'B') without filling slots.Fitted with polyamide cages (suffixed 'TN') as standard, pressed steel cages are also available. However, some bearings may have filling slots that limit the ability to support thrust loads.
Due to their versatility, the ball bearings are the most popular of all anti-friction bearing types. They are available in a broad range of sizes, from miniature ball bearings with outside diameters of less than 9mm, to extra-large bearings that exceed 800mm in diameter. These bearings are also available in a wide variety of shield, seal and snap-ring arrangements.
